Bronze
FROM WOOD TO BRONZE
Joe Jbeily works with bronze to enrich his artistic experience, but also to give a second life to his wooden carvings.
His approach to bronze is unique. Unlike conventional methods, he does not make original clay molds; rather, he molds his wood pieces directly by covering them with a rubbery material.
Another peculiarity of his work: he manipulates the so-called lost wax and sculpts it to give his bronze a texture identical to that of the original wood work.
Once the bronze is cast, he devises a specific patina to perfect the resemblance between the two materials. The result is amazing! At the end of the adventure, the works’ twin characteristics co-exist and both live through eternity together.
